GENERAL QUESTIONS
Are your graphics durable for outdoor use on aircraft?
Yes.  The 3M vinyls Air Graphics uses are aircraft rated with an adhesion system one step below permanent.  They are removable and not reusable.  Our graphics will withstand the elements for up to 5 years, but if cared for and properly maintained the vinyl life can exceed that of paint.
What is the cost of a graphic package?
The price is determined by the amount of vinyl used, the type of vinyl used, difficulty of the design, and time spent putting the graphic together.  You can estimate roughly what our costs are by looking at the semi-custom page and choosing the type of aircraft, vinyl colors and design.  When working with Air Graphics, we will provide you with specific estimates based on the design work we’ve provided you with, so you understand what your final costs will be to budget easier.
Can I save money by using lower cost films?
We do know that some people have had decent success with the less expensive vinyls, but since Air Graphics only produces graphics for aircraft, we use only the best rated 3M vinyls to increase the longevity of the graphic.  The higher quality vinyls are a very thin, porous material that will stand up to the elements as well as SAE 20 motor oil, water, fuel, and isopropyl alcohol, whereas most sign shop vinyls are about 3 times thicker and don’t hold up as well against the elements.
What kind of vinyl do you carry?
There are 5 different types of vinyl, all of which are aircraft grade made by 3M that will withstand fuels, oils, water, and other such elements that would ruin less expensive signage vinyls.  The adhesive system is removable, but not reusable, meaning that once it is on the plane it will take a heat gun to remove it.

The 5 types of vinyl we offer are:

Opaques: a glossy or flat color that contains no metallic fleck

Metallics: a glint of metallic fleck imbedded into the material

Ultra Metallics: contains a noticeable amount of metallic flecks imbedded into the material

Reflective: contains imbedded glass that reflects light when shined upon

Printing: colors to match specific pantones, printing a gradient (ie: a black fade into blue), adding an outline to a vinyl; foils are printed like an ink jet onto one of the above vinyl materials to create a more custom look for your aircraft.

Can I get a sample of the vinyl you use?
Yes, we do not make any graphics until the customer has approved the final design and final color selection.  The color samples are the exact materials that will be used on your plane, so you know what the color will be in true fashion.
Have you ever done custom design work before?
Yes, we have done custom designs for a majority of the certified aircraft models produced in the last 30 years.  Some of these include Cessna, Cirrus, Lance Air, and Piper, as well as experimental aircraft and RV kits.  We can also create designs for smaller producers such as SeaRey, Evektor, Gobosh, Liberty, and Kappa.  We have done custom and production factory work for private pilots, Original Equipment Manufacturers, and commercial fleets.
Can you put my logo on my plane?
Yes, we can.  We have put logos on private planes as well as commercial fleets.  We can help design or manufacture your existing company logo.
How do we start the design process?
Tell us what kind of plane you have.  Click here to submit our "Contact Us" form to get started.
Why do you need my Registration Number?
We carefully incorporate it into your design and show you illustrations that include your registration number.  To learn more about FAA regulations regarding US registration numbers click here.
Do you ever need to reapply my Registration Number to go with the design?
We do that often, but it is not necessary unless it interferes with the design.  We will work around the current registration if you want us to.  Ultimately you, our customer, have final say in how it looks!
I am not from the USA; can you still produce graphics for me?
Yes!  We’ve worked with customers from all over the world on custom graphics.  The process is the same, but usually we end up shipping the graphics overseas for installation instead of you flying here.  We also know what the regulations are for foreign country registration markings for under/over wings as well as 3D imaging and shadowing that may not be allowed for many countries.
Are your graphics removable?
The vinyl adhesive is a one-time use vinyl that has a rating just below permanent, but is removable with a heat gun.
Where do the graphics get installed?
Most of our customers prefer to fly here for Air Graphics to install in Middleton, Wisconsin at the Middleton Municipal Airport -Morey Field (C29).  However, some customers prefer to do it themselves in which case we offer an Installation Guide and Kit to help make installation easier.  You can also check out our list of worldwide service centers here.
